GMAT Books
Updated March 04, 2010
GMAT books are the standard way to prepare for the GMAT. Picking up one of these books is a reasonable way to get started, but there are better choices.
- The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition
- Kaplan GMAT Advanced 2009-2010 Edition
- Cracking the GMAT with DVD, 2010 Edition (Graduate School Test Preparation)
- Reading Comprehension GMAT Preparation Guide, 4th Edition (Manhattan GMAT Preparation Guides)
- Barron’s GMAT (Barron’s Gmat Graduate Management Admission Test)
But the GMAT is a Computer-based Test?
The GMAT is a computer-based test, which can not be well approximated by a book with practice exercises. When you practice for a test (or anything else, for that matter) you should try to simulate the test environment as closely as possible. Hundreds of studies into test preparation prove that the better you can emulate the actual test situation during practice, the more effective and efficient your practice time will be.
Online GMAT Preparation
To best simulate the real GMAT, you can either purchase practice GMAT software that you must download, or practice online at a site like JumboTests. On JumboTests you don’t need to sign up before taking a practice tests.
